What is Your Vision for 2022?

In a flash, the holidays have come and gone. Depending on where you live, the weather was precarious at best. We went from a tornado warning to snow in a couple of days.

How does this compare to your vision for 2022? Did you spend the holidays planning for 2022? Did you feel in control of your destiny?

My holidays were focused, in part, on deciding what I would commit to for 2022. The last two years have been anything but ordinary in terms of living a life as I had come to know and expect. If there was ever a time to reflect on what I thought was dependable and real, it was now.

One of the things I questioned recently is the origination of knowledge. I am responsible for my own acquisition of knowledge. That puts the burden on me to decipher what I believe is real or not real. For example, recently I was engaged in a conversation with a small group on the trial of Socrates. This fun group is exceptionally more brilliant than me, and much more experienced. As the group was discussing this topic, I did a quick search on the internet for additional information. Who was I to believe – the learned scholar who had studied Socrates or the internet? This type of contradiction exists today as the norm, and it is up to me to determine how to use this information in decision making and problem solving.

In 2022, I am committed to being in control of my destiny. Here is how I plan build my resilience and stay committed to my vision:

  • Acquire knowledge – do more research and testing
  • Maintain a positive mindset – make every day the best and forget the rest
  • Remain focused on solutions – have answers rather than creating problems
  • Make quality of choices – leads to better outcomes and a sense of being in control
  • Be kind – the conservator of my energy and enthusiasm

I choose to be in control of my destiny by taking responsibility for my actions through the quality of choices I make in every minute of the day. I know I will stumble through  difficulties and the journey will not be easy. While it would be easy to blame others for whatever does not work out the way I would like, I want to become more aware of the choices I am making and the resulting impact on my success.
